Late Summer - 1st Edition

Music, Wine, Coffee and Dine

The STREHAN estate launches on October 6th the first edition of the LATE SUMMER – Music, Wine, Coffee and Dine festival, a unique event with jazz music and unique culinary experiences, which aims to recreate the inter-war atmosphere in an idyllic natural setting, the STREHAN winery, located 90 km from Bucharest. In popular tradition, the beginning of October is known as “late summer”.

The STREHAN estate is a new hospitality project located in the village of Tohani, in the renowned Dealu Mare wine region.

The event will also see the official opening of the STREHAN Domain, the host of the festival, which marks the revival of this place with an impressive history that began many years ago, in the interwar period. It thus opens its doors to wine tourism enthusiasts, but also to lovers of unique experiences, to discover a completely new concept in hospitality in the Dealu Mare region, to be completed over the next 2 years.

The project includes an inter-war mansion, now under renovation, which will offer accommodation services – Eglantina Mansion and STREHAN Winery, a winery that aims to bring to the Romanian market a range of wines closer to the characteristics of the New World, with fruity, fragrant wines, and, last but not least, a venue for events – the Citizen Barn, as well as other leisure options.

Jazz Manouche Caravan - Emy Drăgoi, from legend to the 21st century

The jazz music concert will be performed by the “DJANGO” – Gypsy Jazz ManouChe” Caravan – Emy Drăgoi, who brings to the public’s attention the Manouche Jazz music genre with a special history and flavour, in a special vocal-instrumental formula. Alongside Emy Drăgoi and the Jazz Hot Club Romania orchestra, actresses Anca Sigartău and Aylin Cadâr are collaborators in this project.

Django set a rhythm, “swing”, that was to mark an entire era of interwar Paris. The project’s repertoire will include timeless themes such as “Minor Swing”, “Daphne”, “Belleville”, “Djangology”, “Swing ’42” and “Nuages”, which have become standards in jazz music.

The host of the event will be Pavel Bartoș, one of the most beloved and charismatic actors and TV presenters.

STREHAN flavours in the vineyard with Chef Vasile Nicolae

The event will be marked by a memorable culinary experience offered by Chef Vasile Nicolae who has created a special menu combining quality ingredients with unique flavors, capitalizing on local recipes and ingredients.

There will be hors d’oeuvres, sommelier’s plate, traditional snacks, as well as stewed rabbit, mutton pastrami or mountain sarmale. Dessert is reminiscent of old-fashioned recipes for alivancă or scovergă muntenească.

Wine Tasting with Sommelier Andrei Orbeșteanu

The evening will be ennobled with a tasting of wines from the recently launched STREHAN Winery. You will have the opportunity to be among the first to taste the wines of the STREHAN winery, wines with exquisite qualities that embody the richness of the Tohani soils and the skill of its people.

Sommelier Andrei Orbeșteanu has taken specialized courses in California (Napa Valley), South Africa (Stellenbosch), and in Romania he obtained his sommelier diploma at the Romanian Hotel Tourism School. He was president of the Romanian Sommeliers’ Organization from 2019 to 2023 and is a Knight of the European Order of Wine O.E.V.E – ORDO EQUESTRIS VINI EUROPAE, an association founded in the 13th century in the free city of Eisenstadt (Austria).
